Passage-1
Football is the world’s most popular sport, and is played in every country in the world. The rules of soccer were laid down in Britain in the 1860s when the Football Association was formed to control the sport. It is really a simple game in which two teams of 11 players try to score by putting a ball into the opposing team’s goal-mouth.
Players control the ball with their feet or head, but they are not allowed to touch it with their arms and hands. Only the goalkeeper may handle the ball, and that too only inside the penalty area in front of his own goal-post.
